A friend was asking about a really good steak restaurant in either Dallas or Ft. Worth. The city doesn't matter to him, he will make hotel reservations in the city he chooses for his dinner. He is a fan of Mickey Mantle's and other nice places in OKC, so I'm assuming cost is not an issue. He is taking his significant other South and wants to treat her to a nice dinner. I shouldn't assume anything, especially cost, so if you have a place to recommend, if you can, tell me what their prices are and I will pass that on to him as well.
Thanks,
C. T.

Well with the prime steak houses we have here I have only driven to DFW to eat at the Brazilian Churascarias that can be found down there.... I like Fogo de Chao and Texas de Brazil almost equally when it comes to the food but I think Fogo de Chao is a little classier place and we will soon have a TdB here.

There are so many fine steakhouses in DFW. It's a huge chain but I really like The Capital Grille in Uptown. Price is on par with the high end steakhouses here in OKC. They have one in Ft Worth as well but haven't been to that location.

C.T., if he is a fan of Mickey Mantle's he should check out Kirby's. They are operated by the same people.

I had diner Friday night at Morton's and it was outstanding as usual. However, Pappas Bros, Del Frisco, Bob's Chop House, Three Forks are all equally as outstanding. I would advise him to look at the menus and then decide. We eat at Morton's all of the time but for a really special event....I would probably go with Pappas Bros. Not super far from the Four Seasons in Las Colinas if looking a a really nice hotel also. (We did this for an anniversary weekend trip one time)

Yes, I do like Cattlemen's in OKC, and no that's not why I mention Cattlemen's in Ft. Worth. It's in the stockyards, right on the east side of North Main, maybe 26th or so. I've eaten there several times and was always pleased with the quality, the service, and the portion size. Fine steak house? Good, yes. If fine means pricey, then not particularly.

I can always think of something I'd rather have than steak. That said.. the last steak place I went to in DFW was The Palm. If they're still open, I recall it wasn't bad.

Grew up and lived in Dallas for 25 years.

My favorite steakhouses:

Dakota's -- It's in an old prohibition-era speakeasy underground downtown Dallas. You drive up to a lone elevator and attendant on the street corner. It's awesome.

Perry's Steakhouse. Not only great steaks, but their pork chop is really the best chop I've ever ever eaten.
