We had a freaking blast. Great time in downtown Tulsa. The atmosphere made me really want to get a downtown stadium in the works for OKC. Barhopping before and after the match was great.

There were almost 200 Energy fans from OKC who made the trip. The Tulsa ticket office initially split us up and spread us out. After the match started, we all consolidated in one section behind the goal. It was a great time. We sang and chanted, waved our flags and scarves. We definitely out-performed the home supporters group The Roustabouts, but it was their first game.

Coach Jimmy Nielsen came to our OKC tailgate before the match. He brought cases of beer, burgers and dogs for the fans. He appreciated us for showing up in such strong numbers.

A good time was had by all, looking forward to the home opener.

I ended up being able to go and ride on the bus that went. It was an awesome time and I can't wait till the next away day. Looking at the Roughnecks social media has been pretty entertaining as well.

It won't be 100% complete but they will play at Taft. Parking lot for sure I don't think will be done.

True. I wonder if they will have the supporter section ready? Also, how far along on that press box do you think they will get in two weeks?

Pete, the parking lot that faces May is completely dirt right now (unless they've paved it in the last day or so). I have no idea about the inside, though. But by the looks of that lot, it'd be kind of a logistical issue trying to get people in and out through that construction zone.

Urbanized
04-07-2015, 06:10 AM
Does the parking lot have curbs poured already? If so the lot can be installed and striped in only a couple of days. They usually do parking lots near the end of construction, only after they no longer have to move heavy equipment back and forth over them, into and out of the site.

I believe the curbs are still intact, but can't say for sure. Glad to know that parking can be done quickly if that's the case.

Not sure, I was just told by someone with the team to "expect some bandaids" the first game or two

I've read that there is a 100% completion deadline and a "game-ready" deadline. There will still be things to finish after the home opener, but the game and fan experience shouldn't be hindered by uncompleted items.

still think moving to taft is a huge mistake, even if they can sell beer.
Soccer moms from Edmond wouldn't be caught in that part of town.

Our neighbors (who are sadly moving to Dallas) have Energy season tix for sale, they're asking $650 for the pair which includes 2 tickets plus VIP parking at all home games. Retail is over $1000 (per the owner, not verified by me). PM me if interested and I can put y'all in touch. I'd have snapped them up but we're out of town quite a bit this summer so unlikely that we can make it to all the home games! Spread the word!

Energy FC (http://www.energyfc.com/news/anheuser-busch-named-official-domestic-beer-for-okc-energy-fc/)

OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC and Anheuser-Busch announced today a multi-year partnership that makes Budweiser and Bud Light the official domestic beer for OKC Energy FC.

Inside the stadium, soccer fans of age may purchase Bud and Bud Light at all concession stands as well as at the Green Club and at locations within the stands.

“The number one item we received feedback on during our inaugural season was that we should sell beer,” said Prodigal president Jeff Ewing. “This season, we can meet the needs of the fans at Energy FC games. Adding Bud and Bud Light as our official domestic beer partner offers a new element for our soccer fans to enjoy the game, but also to enjoy it responsibly.”

Anheuser-Busch joins companies like Mass Mutual Oklahoma, McDonald’s, Chick-Fil-A, AT&T, Loves, Buffalo Wild Wings on NW Expressway, Bob Bartley Electric, AT&T, as well as founding partners Mercy, Kickapoo Casino and First Fidelity Bank as proud partners of Energy FC.

Energy FC’s home opener is April 18 against Seattle Sounders 2 at historic Taft Stadium.

Not sure I really care to have that segment be part of the fan base anyhow. I want people passionate about soccer. FYI my wife is a future soccer mom (in the true form) and we're almost Edmond and we don't miss games.

I sure hope that AB agreement doesn't mean they are ONLY going to have Bud Heavy and Bood Light as the only beers available.

From what I can tell on the website, there are < 200 single game tickets left with all sections sold out except for 15, 16, 17, 20, 21. If that's accurate, I'm pretty excited.

Agree!

If they don't feel safe on 23rd & May; what makes him think Edmond is all that safe. Suggest that these so-called afraid of Taft Stadium area soccer moms shelter themselves in Edmond, call for services that pick-up and deliver.

Hahaha is this a joke? Since when does anyone care what soccer moms anywhere think? I'd love to see the reactions of those soccer moms when their kids joined the Grid (assuming they would even dare venture into gritty, dirty OKC).

I've noticed the Energy twitter account seems to be the only USL team not screaming from the mountaintops that they have, or are close to, a sellout. Seems odd that they won't mention tickets sold. Makes me think it won't be full, who knows. I'll be there.

Yes. I've questioned them multiple times about it on twitter and they've been oddly tight lipped for some reason. I don't understand why?

Just the home opener from what I could tell.

If you go on the site, it will show open seats when you are selecting which one to buy. I did that for every section it had open on the site. Not super accurate but close.

I was at Skinny Slims last night for the USA vs. Mexico match. Tyler, a ticket agent for the Energy, was there set up and I chatted with him for a while. He's a great guy and can help anyone out with tickets. He was saying that all East side tickets are sold for the opener. There are small pockets left on the West side. This was in reference to the home opener.

Just checked the same way you just did, section by section on the ticketing website and there appear to be about 40 tickets remaining but they're all $37-$44 which seems pretty pricey to me. I hope that's accurate because the stadium should be rocking this weekend!

Nope, the parking lot just in front of the main stadium entrance is not paved. They've poured concrete curbing but the rest (save for a small truck-access strip of asphalt) is packed red dirt.

This is good to hear. There's so much gentrification of the nearby neighborhoods going on, and if the retail/business component can step it up a notch, it'll just help our property values go up even more. There are lots of neat-looking buildings in this area, many of which have been covered up by crappy awnings or other additions. They all have good bones, and it'd be so cool to see them restored and re-purposed.

Great time last night! They need to get actual registers at the concessions because the lady who helped us was using a notepad to write your order down and then adding it up, it was ridiculous.

As far as the game, man Daalgard is a man with no fear, that dude is comfortable taking on any number of defenders.

Congrats to the energy on what looks like a great win - looks like the fans did their part too - awesome! Anyone have a link to a highlights video? Also, who is in charge of the Energy's website? Hasn't even been updated with the recap or box score of the match. Weird. When you go to the schedule, it still brings up the "tickets" link. They really should get on that. Embarrassing that I have to go to Seattle's website to read the game recap.

Anyone think it was a little underwhelming that there were only ~67-6800 at the game? People had been saying that there were only like 20 tix left on Friday. The west stands were MAYBE half full. Were those sold, and people just didnt show up?

But I suspect you're looking for any reason to say that the energy are not a success.

It was officialy a 'Sell Out'. I would say about 70% full or so. I would also assume that a lot of people didn't come do to the weather. There was about a 30 minute delay to start the game. I think I might have felt one or two drops of rain.
