I want to give him my autograph. =)
If Toby Keith tries to butt in line I will admonish him. =)

What about if Leslie Gore tries to butt in line?:)

I'd have to think about that for a couple of seconds . . . =)
And then introduce her to my sweet wife who is also my soulmate.
And let her start chatting about girlie things. =)
With Leslie Gore on account of the decade matrix thing.

Isn't the marriage of Tricia Yearwood and Garth Brooks just about as perfect as can be imagined?
From an Okie Standpoint. Even if they moved from outside of Owasso back to Nashville?
After Tricia probably had some sort of objection to Yukon . . . =)

Sorry to get all maudlin and whatnot . . .

As long as Tricia keeps cooking those great southern dishes she can do anything she wants.

Tru' Dat.

For the uninitiated, who might have some trouble translating the connection between Garth Brooks, Tricia Yearwood, Braum's, and Leslie Gore . . . submitted for your approval (or not)

Yes. Yet Tricia can't do the same home cookin' outside of the Oklahoma Mansion.

How may times can he retire and then comeback before the sheeple catch on ?
Oh well I guess it doesn't matter unless he un retires Chris Gaines.

I just saw this earlier today. If this is any indication of how the rest of the album is, I think he's got another winner on his hands.

Catch on to what...good music? LOL You sound like those guys on the music boards I frequent who think it's cool to say The Beatles suck. Like it or not, we'd be stupid to ignore the vote of the people, wouldn't we? I can't stand rap, but I try to open myself up to it because I believe that if it's connecting with such a huge percentage of the population, the problem is me...not them.

In response to your apparent acceptance of cultural decline--and yielding to The Hive Mind--may I respectfully submit, for your consideration, this quip from one of our great presidents (that I think was plagiarized by P.T. Barnum) ?

"You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." -attributed to Abraham Lincoln (and P.T. Barnum)

In fact, on some issues you can't fool some of the people any of the time.
To wit: Garth Good, cRap Not So Much

It's sort of like saying that just because Hitler had such a huge appeal to such a large percentage of the German people that folks who hated him and what he was doing had a problem. (Well . . . they DID have a "problem" . . . but not the sort of problem we are referring to in this context.)

(With an unintentional Tip o' the Hat t' Godwin's Law way too early in the game)

Its standard practice in the music industry to "retire" and then come back later. Their kids grow up and they get bored and get back into the business.

In response to your apparent acceptance of cultural decline...and blah, blah, blah (drunken stuff to follow)

I'll just tell you what I told one of our managers who used to think like you. Being out in front doesn't mean you're in the lead. It may mean you're the one holding up progress. Being different doesn't make someone better or smarter (although they often think it does)...it just makes them different. Ignoring the will of the people is just ignorant. We don't have to think that what everyone likes is great, but to think there is no value there says more about our blindness than it does about everyone else. Your feeble attempts to compare Garth to Hitler kinda proves that you lost the internet for today, doesn't it? What's that law?

Well . . . You missed the entire point of my post.
(and, btw, there was absolutely no mind altering substance involved in it)

I would bet you aren't a big Ayn Rand fan . . . =)
Or even a fan of Ralph Waldo Emerson or Henry David Thoreau.
"Self-Reliance? Individuality? I scoff at those concepts in the name of The Will of The People."

You ever wonder why our political system is in such disarray?
Could it be that all the politicians are attempting to pander to The Will of The People rather than being statesmen?

btw: I never compared Garth to Hitler. I have no idea where that translation came from. I'm a big fan of Garth Brooks and I don't really care if The Will of The People supports my preference or not.

He is clearly a good business person and has a great marketing team. I mean he has repackaged his catalogue many times and sold the same songs over and over in different packages. thats pretty smart. I saw him as an opening act and again a few times as a headliner during roping the wind tour but I don't need to see him again really. but good for him for working the public the way he has. can't fault him for doing good business.

I met him back in the early to mid 80's. He was doing a DJ/MOC thingy at the Czech Hall. The Mustang COC was having a casino night and I was running the front door exchanging real money for play money to "gamble" for prizes. We ended up sitting and talking about old Rock and Roll trivia. He was a nice guy.

The People Have Spoken.

I don't really remember Garth Brooks as Chris Gaines (I've heard of this, but didn't pay any attention).
I do, however, remember Andy Kaufman as Tony Clifton.
