Just wanted to express our sincere appreciation for the volunteers who put together the RAM, Oklahoma (Remote Area Medical) at the Fairgrounds this past weekend.

You giving back to the community was a blessing for those who were in attendance.

My friend (jobless, no medical insurance) had a terrible toothache that was agonizing to him which started giving him trouble around August 12. He was able to hold out with the use of home remedies until August 16.

We arrived around 12 midnight. He was able to get inside Expo Hall around 9:15 a.m., only to be greeted with the bad news that the dental area had run out of novacaine; they would not be able to extract any more teeth. So we tried it again on the 17th, this time we arrived early (11 p.m.) the night before. They opened the doors to Expo Hall around 6 a.m. after distributing numbers to the anxiously awaiting patrons. He was able to get all three of his bad teeth extracted.

He just received news that he has been hired by UPS and will begin work this week; they have excellent medical coverage, he can't wait to enroll.

Thank you, RAM, Oklahoma for this wonderful event, a pool of resources supported by talented professionals in the area of medical, dental and vision services.

You can't imagine how you have impacted the lives of those who are met with temporary misfortune. I talked with a number of people who were in situations similar to that of my friend. There were people from Arkansas, Kansas, Colorado and Texas who drove to Oklahoma City to take advantage of these services.

It was painful for me to see him go through this ordeal. Although I offered to loan him the money to go to see my dentist--he held strong and steadfast for this event.

You (RAM, Oklahoma) made a difference.
