American Bandstand debuted on this day in 1957 and lasted 31 seasons. The show played Top 40 songs and showcased dancers. In 2004, Dick Clark’s plans to revive the show as a dance contest resulted in the series So You Think You Can Dance.

This post has a good beat and is easy to dance to. I'd give it a 9.

Two years ago today, the Curiosity rover landed on Mars. One year later, on Aug. 6, 2013, Curiosity played "Happy Birthday to You,” marking both the first song played on a different planet and the first time music was transmitted between two planets.

The title reminded me of a bronze plaque in Key West. I don't remember the exact date on the plaque so the one I'm using is made up. There's a very nice plaque on a wall that says " On April 7, 1938 on this spot absolutely nothing happened". If you don't find it funny you've never been to Key West.

I've been to Key West and have the photo with two gray-bearded British guys in pink tutus and frilly shower caps to prove it.

It's actually on Friday but in case I forget...

Friday marks the 45th anniversary of Woodstock, which took place from August 15-18, 1969.

Is Stage Center (formerly known as "Mummers Theater") completely gone yet?
If so, the overwhelming synchronicity of the situation would be just that.
(not to mention the SuperMoon combined with the Perseid Meteor Shower. =)
(and the Land's End/GQ auto mailing magazine catalog snafu . . . =)

On this date . . . A new Celebrity Baby from the Old School Network (Today Show) stepped into what we commonly recognize as reality. Racial Tensions in some suburbs in the vicinity of St. Louis approach the boiling point and Obama spouts more platitudes regarding the out of control hordes of Islamists yearning to breathe free and fill the vacuum created by the passing of Sadaam Hussein in the direction of not on the stage of history . . .
