We have a lot of great dads on this board and their love for their children regularly trickles through. Here's to the dads who are there for their kids through thick and thin. And a special shout out to the dads who don't live with their kids but who move heaven and earth to be the best dad they can. I was one of the kids in that boat and it makes all the difference. Trust me.

Miss my dad, today - wish we could sit down, crack open a beer and solve tbe problems of the world.

Eta - this is a happy Father's Day thread but if you fall into the category of "fat"ger, well, so be it!

Grr.

Missin' my Pops this morning, but had an unexpected and very nice surprise a few hours ago.

A former client got a hold of me just to wish me a happy father's day and to again say thanks for everything.

I wished him the same. He's gone through a lot for his kiddos, and is a great young poppa in his own right.

In memory of my Dads...

And, to those very special Dads, whom I think of every day...don't give up before the miracle happens!

Finally, to the all-time BESTEST, non-biological Dad a boy and a man could ever hope to have on this side of life...I Love You Verne!!!

In recognition of the New Holiday, c/o Penny Quilts, et. al, I plagiarized an existing concept, added a few personal ingredients, and threw this together. It's sort of like Using a Recipe. Perhaps even akin to The Art of The Needle (including tailoring and, of course, sewing various other stuff made of fabric =).

Rumor has it that Eddy Arnold made popular, later, an early version of this.
(Apparently in the Key of C).

F-A-T-G-E-R

F is for the fishing for the trout nice
A is for the ancient ties he wore
T is for tobacco, pipes and Old Spice
G is for the griping when was sore
E is for the Elk's Club every Thursday
R is rong and ever wrong will be (gee)
Put them all together they spell "FATGER"
The word remains a mystery to me.

Dedicated to PQ and to all of the Fatgers out there
Wherever they may be.

(Including down around Antlers . . .
Where Dads have been recently been spotted =)

If I knew how to run the Meme Poster Generating Machine,
I probably would have put up a pic of Hugh Beaumont vs. Fred McMurray in a title bout for Fatger of the Year.
Still . . . I do know what Hood Ornaments are . . . =)

My father has been gone for 20 years and I miss him a lot but I still had a great Father's Day. My wonderful daughter took me out to eat

Bravo!

Especially to Throckmorton.
(my dad wore an authentic fedora and a long overcoat instead of starwars armor)
(he passed just before i turned 19 just as i was beginning to understand him)
(i'm 61 now. he was a good dad and father, he knew what mattered.)
(btw: he died fishing. on a mountain lake. they called it drowning. it was a heart attack.)
