Company plans $100M upgrades at Ada plant

ADA, Okla. (AP) - A Massachusetts-based company says it plans to spend $100 million to make improvements to its cement plant in Ada.
Holcim US Inc. is awaiting approval from state environmental officials to begin the modernization project. DeCarlo says the modernization project involves upgrading the plant's kiln line - and will increase the facility's capacity by about 20 percent. The plant now employs 120 people.

Ada Jobs Foundation CEO Mike Southard says the project will have a significant economic impact on the area- through the temporary jobs and by ensuring Holcim's long-term presence in the community.

Holcim is one of the world's largest suppliers of cement and aggregates.
