Here it is, hot off the...internet. It's a popularity contest, but at least some good local establshments are highlighted. To zoom in, click on the square that appears on the lower right hand corner of the ballot.

I hope to see the day when a publication steps up and isn't afraid to choose the truly best restaurants in the metro. A true "Best of" list should use expert or at least knowledgable staff opinion instead of popular vote.

Yeah, some of them are funny. My favorite is Harold's as best "fashion-forward" clothing store. I think the only way they could be fashion forward is if that if the same clothes they have been selling since 1984 have come back in style. :) The get to be fashion forward by accident.

Why don't they have a Best Talk Forum - they have a Best Blog.

I'm jealous. How do we nominate in this poll anyway?

Maybe because they already know we are the best. However, I do agree with you totally.

Through write-in ballots in two June issues. The top five go on a runoff ballot in two July issues. The Gazette determines the categories. They used to have "Best Website". Maybe we can lobby them to return the category for next year's ballot.

Yeah -- I think we would win "Best Forum" hands down, if not "Best Website".

Best Website should come back and run as a separate category from Best Blog.

On the other hand: do I really want to lose in two categories at once? :)

Mostly, these awards are about who has the most saturation and/or who has the most money to lobby for the awards.

My website was up last year for Best Local Website and finished fourth.

Newsok.com won. Jackandron.com placed second (hell, they make yard signs to campaign for this). Philanddrew.com placed third, then OklahomaRock.com and KFOR.com. It's impossible to beat out newsok.com.
