Child pornography has reached "epidemic proportions" one federal official said today following the indictment of 71 people that included cops, a rabbi, nurses and a Boy Scout leader.

Court documents said that some of the victims were as young as 2 years old.

“The sheer volume of confirmed and suspected instances of individuals engaging in the sexual exploitation of children identified through Operation Caireen is shocking,” said Jim Hayes , special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New York. “Clearly this criminal activity has reached epidemic proportions.”

"Epidemic Proportions?" Really? Where the heck has this guy been for the past 25-30 years?

25-30 years ago child porn was passed in person or in the mail and was very hard to track. Today on the internet pedophiles can be discovered and tracked but I agree with you, it's been around a long time.

Maybe this is a good time to check the "Sex Offender Registry" for your neighborhood. I just found approximately 20 Offenders in a 9 square mile area around my neighborhood.

I find these two a bit easier to navigate. Homefacts though isn't always up-to-date.

A guy I have posted about before - Teddy Dean Davis (Cleveland County); responded to a Craigslist ad and showed up at a guys house and was allowed to rape the guy's 6yr old autistic son while the dad watched and masturbated. DA Mashburn gave him only 2 years in prison and set him loose earlier this year. He's already violated his probation (was still getting on the Internet, was in possession of porn and using drugs). Was allowed to post bond while they go through a motion to revoke. Personally, these light sentences are a big part of the problem. I don't think he should be out on bond. He knows he's gonna get locked back up so if he's gonna rape another kid, he'll do it now.

Child porn is bad enough, but you're talking about child rape! How did Mashburn's office justify the leniency on a rape of a six-year-old autistic child? Wow.
