Someone noted recently that construction was nearing 50% completion on the Walnut Ave. Bridge, but construction of the new re-route of 6th Street to feel into Walnut Ave. hasn't started. That work should be starting soon, as the council approved it in their meeting today.

It will be similar to the new traffic circle near St. Anthony. If you haven't used it yet, head on down 10th street and give it a whirl.

Oklahoma City is getting more than $500,000 in grants for projects including a new gateway linking Interstate 235 to downtown Oklahoma City and Bricktown.
The city council approved an agreement Tuesday with the state Transportation Department for federal enhancement grants to build sidewalks and bicycle trails between the state Capitol and the Oklahoma Health Center and to create the "6th Street Centennial Gateway."

A $200,000 grant will help the city build sidewalks and bicycle trails along Kelley Avenue from NE 16 to NE 22 and on NE 18 from Lottie Avenue to Lincoln Boulevard. The grant requires a $50,000 match from the city.

The "6th Street Centennial Gateway" will be a five-way intersection linking I-235 and NE 6. The city will get a $395,212 grant for the project. "
