Does anyone know of a good FREE home phone service option? Bills going up is getting hard for me to be able to afford stuff.

It isn't "free" but if you have high speed internet, NetTalk (http://www.nettalk.com/) is pretty close with around a $20.00 a year fee after the initial hardware purchase of around $50.00 (which includes the first year of service). The $20.00 yearly fee is for regulatory taxes and such.

Walmart - NetTalk Duo (http://www.walmart.com/ip/NetTalk-Duo-VoIP-Telephone-Service/15689187)
Newegg - NetTalk Duo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833616006)

They also have a new wireless version which I haven't tried. I have mine plugged into the router and the base unit for my Panasonic cordless phones (5 total handsets) plugged into the Duo so all of them work off that. I've had it since 2011 when I moved to Denver and no complaints, you can also transfer your number now.

Charlie40,
Skype is free for computer-to-computer conversations. You can communicate all over the world for free on the computer. I talk to my friend in London often, but it's computer to computer. Using Skype to call a phone number costs (charges for each minute) but no monthly charge. I have no idea what the costs are.

Not exactly sure what you are looking for. If you receive the Oklahoma Sales Tax Refund, you would qualify for this service...

There are those TV commercials for Magic Jack. I think there is a version now that doesn't even require you to have Internet access.
