Thunder took Lakers in five. Arena & Thunder alley were passionate about our NBA team.

I had read that the fans booed the Thunder in the first game against the Clippers. Is that true? I had hoped that Thunder fans were better than that.

Thunder got booed by our own fans in both Grizzlies and Clippers games so far. This isn't something new to playoffs.

Playing poorly sometimes needs a reality check. These guys are paid millions to play a sport, I think they can take a little criticism, especially if it gets them motivated.

If the Thunder are lacking effort and hustle, then boo away. But if they're giving it their best and are simply having a bad game or happen to be getting beat by a better team, what good can booing accomplish? That booing is commonplace during the playoffs is irrelevant.

I booed. Because they lacked effort and hustle. I don't mind getting beat when you leave it all out there. When you no show you're gonna hear about it.

Precisely. Fans pay good money to attend playoff games, the passion and intensity is there from the fans. If this hugely talented team comes out and wastes the opportunity, then the fans will respond. I think every player would agree, that they can take some criticism, especially from the fans.

I'm still at a loss as to how booing accomplishes anything of benefit, so long as the players are doing their best.

I haven't watched the game, so I can't comment on the Thunder's intensity. From what I've read, Chris Paul had an amazing night beyond the arc. The Thunder scored 105, a very respectable showing for regular season or for postseason, but they were just outgunned by a hot-shooting team. I know what it's like to catch a team at the wrong time - when it's hot. As a former pitcher, there were times that I'd perform to the best of my ability only to get rocked by a team that was hitting its stride. That's what I inferred about the first game from what I had read. If my understanding of the matchup is inaccurate, I'll abandon my position.

First, I was at the supposed game when there was booing and if there was booing then it was nominal. I never noticed it and I stayed until the end. Second, some NBA fans have trouble differentiating between poor effort and a poor scheming. When Chris Paul hits 8 threes, you're going to be in trouble. There were some defensive busts, but there was not a lack of effort in my opinion. Being out of position, which is what happened in game 1, is totally different than not trying. Considering what this team gives night-in and night-out, I find any booing at this point absurd, but to each their own.

They played little to no defense and were completely unable to cover the pick and roll the clips run. As good as RW and KD are, the seem to relax a lot on defense and that was what was killing us the first game. The second and third games, they dialed up the intensity, the active hands and played their roles better. Both of those ended in W's. I remember the first season they were here and the fans booed at half time when we were playing terribly. The media asked Jeff Green about it after the game and he said, "Absolutely they should boo us. We sucked out there and they deserve better." So, when they are not playing well, they know it and it just enforces it when the crowd voices their displeasure as well. I think that motivated them to play better for the fans to earn that money.

If we boo and if we leave a game early, then we're no better (or worse) than any of the rest of the NBA fans. That article talked about fans giving a standing ovation after a loss. That's no longer us, and we're just regular NBA fans, IMO. If you boo or leave early, you can't pat yourself on the back.

So true betts, Sacramento went through this phase of being passionate and loud just as we are today. Are we now following the ranks of what a lot of NBA cities go through? Especially the 'break-through cities' (cities with first major league franchise) where there is one big show in town.
