How does a tree stay in key for the most part?

Ingenious way he came up with to make the rings to translate to musical notes. Imagine a slice from one of these trees. I am not condoning the act of any form of a natural wonder, but wow would it be a L.P. Tooo coooool!

A Play station eye camera and a stepper motor attached to its control
arm? The article doesn't say what software, or medium, was used to
transfer the wood to notes.

The majority of the comments to the article are quite mindless.

I use a notation and engraving software called Finale. It's an incredibly
powerful software, however, I'm not sure if it can do the same thing that
Ableton did. I'm going to look into it.

The composer, or the individual who manipulated the tree rings to sound,
had to have decided what sounds, i.e. piano, clarinet, etc..., to use. I would
have liked to have heard non traditional instrumentation. Perhaps samples
of plants growing or wildlife. Maybe birds. Mammals. Aquatic life.

By plants growing, I mean a recording of the sound a plant makes during
growth. No doubt that would be a difficult undertaking but it wouldn't be
an impossible endeavor. Maybe expensive.

I've played several pieces that included recordings of whales. I don't
remember the names of the pieces. They were manipulated by
software and the results were amazing.
