Gov. Mary Fallin, the University of Oklahoma, the Norman Economic Development Coalition and the Oklahoma Department of Commerce announced Monday that Commander Aircraft Corp. will occupy two hangars at Max Westheimer Airport on OU’s north campus and will expand one of those hangars by an additional 50,000 to 70,000 square feet.

Commander will bring an estimated 75 to100 jobs to Norman by its third year of operations.

I wonder if this is the long awaited aerospace company they've been talking about for years?

I think they are still marketing the east side of UNP north of the Embassy Suites for office space for aviation companies that also want direct access to the airport/runways.

This is good positive news of the type that I would like to see far more often for Norman.

What did the city of Norman and or OU offer over and above what the state offers in the way of incentives?

Hasn't this company already filed bankruptcy twice within the last few years? I don't know, I'm happy for Norman, but this just left me underwhelmed.

It's not easy to see where these folks are in relation to the original Commander Aircraft that was liquidated in 2012.
