A brave and noble man who's actions and class transcended sport. A true American hero.

Jackie Robinson was movie star handsome. His smile was incredible.

I barely remember him playing for the Dodgers because I was quite young.
But I remember 1955! This year is next year!

Some called him the Jim Thorpe of his race. Heck, he was almost the Jim
Thorpe of any race. Jim Thorpe was the reason he wasn't.

Here's a good site. (http://www.biography.com/people/jackie-robinson-9460813#awesm=~oBzwUsft37zpHi)

Satchel Paige, Roy Campanella and Don Newcomb were considered by
Branch Rickey as candidates for the Dodgers. Jackie won. Branch
Rickey wanted someone who could survive the insults, death threats and
even the dissension from his team mates. Jackie was chosen. I believe
Satchel would have put his fist through someones mouth. Roy and Don
became Dodger staples a few years later.

I have a hard time understanding racism. It doesn't compute. It's
stupid.

Viva Jackie Robinson!
