I've noticed they had been working on this. So much going on in the core. This is getting crazy.

Pete, do you know what kind of metal panels are on the new addition?

This is wonderful. Even in the context of abandoned buildings in NW Downtown, this particular building was contributing more than its fair share to urban blight.

Great to see new life & use breathed into a long-vacant 105-year-old building, of which we have so few. It would have been really easy to scrape that lot and start from scratch or even leave as an empty lot. I doubt a demolition application would have elicited a peep. I will point out that there are many empty lots surrounding it, so the idea that an old building is less likely to be developed than a scraped lot has been disproven, at least in this case.

They will now end up with a building that has more interior character than can be built today at practically any price.

I won't quibble with the facade renovation since the existing is non-historic and heavily-altered (probably around the 50s or so), but I WOULD be interested in seeing what the historic facade looked like. Hopefully a photo emerges at some point. Something so immediately post-Territorial probably looked like buildings we only wish we still had here.

A shout-out should go to Urban Pioneer for being the caretaker for a while and getting it into the hands of someone who had the time/budget/vision to do something with it.

This wouldn't be Midtown, would it? I'd think SoSA or possibly the CBD.

SoSA is 6th to 9th.

The CBD is south of 4th.

Any idea the sort of office tenant for this place?

Pete

I suspect this will be for Deeba's own CPA firm.

This building isn't even 3,000 square feet and the configuration looks like a single-tenant use.

Mike's a good guy. I expect he will do this right.

Agreed. The swath between Walker and Classen is really shaping up quickly.

This project has been moving forward lately. Any new details on this? Tenants?

Pete

It's still the same tenant / owner: Deeba accounting firm.

I was told there was some hang-ups on the final design (Deeba made some changes) and finally the necessary building permits were issued and they are once again moving forward.

The changes are not significant -- will look pretty much like the images in the article on the top of the page.

It was always meant to be the offices of a local CPA firm.

It looks very close to what I intended to do with it. However, the metal panels are much, much better than the Hardiboard we had planned. Kudos to them for rehabilitating it fully.

It looks as though excavation for a footing for the other house on the lots fronting Dewey is underway.
