I think Mixon is more comparable to DeMarco Murray - good pass catching RB.

OU is shifting it's strategy and mode of attack. The Sugar bowl was just a taste of things to come.

OU has several good RB prospect that will have a strong down hill component to their game and as a result I think Mixon will see more time split out than Murray ever did. Quick has received some very high complements too. If he is catching balls too it ends any real thoughts of double teaming any OU reviver.

OU is recruiting more agile road-graters on the OL who block with low pad levels. Along with down hill RB's this will further increase the physicality of the OU offense to the point where very few teams will be able to match OU's physicality in another 1 or 2 years.

Then add some of the best speed at the skilled position of any team in college football and O’s offense will be a much tougher match up than the Big 12 has seen in recent years. OU will be able to grind most Big 12 teams in to the dirt like the good old days but still throw the ball very well.

What I'm talking about is that I belive that the biger linemen are more agile than most of bigest linemen that OU had been recruiting in years past under Stoops. You are IMO correct in that the smaller O linemen that OU recruited for the spread offense were more agile but they had a lot of short yardage problems sometimes agains even weak teams.
So yes they are not as agile as the smaller O linemen but they are more agaile than most of the very large OU linemen that OU had recruited in the past.

About the only 2 linemen that are left on the team of the type that I'm thinking of..... that are big but not very agile are Tyler Evans at 6'-5'', 315lb and Derek Farniok at 6' -9'' 319lb.

Some of the bigger linemen in this years class will need to lose bad weight and put on more good weight.

Orlando Brown at 6'-8'' 340lb and Kenyon Frison at 6'-6 285lb were very highly recruited but even they will likey need some time in the weight room before they play. They are along with the othe new recruits are projected to be very agile players for OU given their size because they have shown an ablity to play with low pad levels given their size.

Eric Striker (LB) was an example of a smaller guy who was able to get around the bigger Alabama defender in the Sugar Bowl which was a key factor in OU's Sugar Bowl win over the Crimson Tide. Striker had similar success against Oklahoma State in the annual Bedlam clash in Stillwater.

Balance in recruiting fast strong smaller players and big agile players will improve the Sooners for 2014-15. Keeping these 18-22 year olds motivated and ready will be a challenge.

Having Mike Stoops back has been the x-factor for OU football defense moving forward.
