View Full Version : Golden Chick
Zuplar 01-08-2014, 07:57 AM Mustang/Yukon is getting a Golden Chick. Restaurant is going to be located by the Taco Bell off I40 and Mustang Road. I read an article in the Mustang Times this morning, if they post a link up on the site I'll try and get it out here.
sgt. pepper 01-08-2014, 08:04 AM Do you mean I-40 and Mustang RD.?
Zuplar 01-08-2014, 09:39 AM Yeah, I think I beat you to the edit.
ljbab728 01-08-2014, 10:23 PM Well, it's about time that the good people in Mustang and Yukon finally get a fast food chicken place. :)
sgt. pepper 01-09-2014, 05:39 AM I did not realize it was already under construction. From their web site, it looks a lot like Chicken Express? I hope this Golden Chic serves gizzards, Chicken Express gizzards are hard to beat.
Zuplar 01-09-2014, 09:39 AM Yeah I see a lot of people on Facebook complaining that Mustang already has a Chicken Express. Seems real similar.
Jon27 01-09-2014, 08:00 PM I hope it's Chicken Express. That's a good spot for Yukon. The one in Mustang in several miles down the road in Mustang. The Mustang Taco Bell is right over by it, so it's the same thing!

NM, missed that. I haven't eaten at one before, but sounds good. I don't like KFC, so any other quick fried chicken source would be great!
And I thought this was going to be about a James Bond movie.
Prunepicker 01-09-2014, 10:55 PM And I thought this was going to be about a James Bond movie.
Are you saying it isn't?
They really never showed what James did with his women, just insinuated. Jill Masterson (Shirley Eaton hmmmm) didn't last long as a Golden Chick.
stick47 01-10-2014, 06:11 AM Chicken Express has trans fat. I'll never eat there unless they change their recipe.
Wishbone 01-12-2014, 04:06 PM We need a Raising Canes this way bad.

Except I-40 and Mustang Road isn't Mustang. They need to fix that headline.
Garin 01-12-2014, 06:57 PM 10 piece dark meat for 7 bucks, sounds delicious. Nuff said
Zuplar 01-12-2014, 08:48 PM Except I-40 and Mustang Road isn't Mustang. They need to fix that headline.
True but it's close and plenty of people from mustang do business in this area.
JesStang 01-13-2014, 09:52 AM It'll be good for that area but I doubt people in Mustang (myself included) really care about it because it's a lot like Chicken Express. What we need in Mustang is a Popeyes!! Yum yum!

Not in Mustang, but there is a Popeye's at Morgan Rd. and I-40.....close :)
Prunepicker 01-13-2014, 10:19 PM I don't care for Golden Chick, at least the one at N.W. 16th and N. Rockwell.
If I'm in Mustang, and want fried chicken, I'll go to Chicken Express.
Personally I like the fried chicken at the Homeland at N.W. 23rd and N.
Rockwell. My appreciation for fried chicken stems from the way my Mom
and her Mom prepared it. Simple and to the point.
sgt. pepper 01-14-2014, 05:49 AM Why do you not like Golden Chick....other than the fact it's not like your mothers?, just curious.
RadicalModerate 01-14-2014, 07:31 AM And I thought this was going to be about a James Bond movie.
That, or some sort of tanning salon.
sgt. pepper 03-12-2014, 05:49 PM It looks like they stopped working on this?
Prunepicker 03-12-2014, 07:43 PM There's been a chicken restaurant in Mustang for years. I believe it's Chicken
Express. Similar to KFC's extra crispy.
Golden Chick had an old oil taste to it. Like it's been used more than it should.
At any rate, I like Homeland's fried chicken. 8 pieces for $6.99, unless it's
on sale. Hey their gravy is good, too, and is fine for putting it on rice.
Garin 03-13-2014, 07:13 AM It looks like they stopped working on this?
The one on S. Penn has been under construction for way over a year now, its almost as if they keep running out of money
doctorwho 04-08-2014, 11:56 PM Seems like there hasn't been any construction in a couple of months on this place. Is this place not really going to open?
Zuplar 04-09-2014, 09:48 AM And the ironic part is that I've been seeing more and more commercials for this place. Before I started this thread I barely even knew the place existed.
kwhey 07-02-2014, 08:27 AM They just need to bulldoze it and let somebody else build there.

OKCisOK4me 07-02-2014, 11:36 AM Some kid just needs to go and tag it with spray paint...that should get their butts moving!
Zuplar 12-17-2014, 12:11 PM Paper says they will be opening in February.

kwhey 04-05-2015, 09:41 AM Finally opened about two weeks ago.
P.S.: Free Ice Cream. Yum!
kwhey 05-19-2015, 12:53 PM We need a Raising Canes this way bad.
Done.

This is not to far from being finished and just a mile south a Chicken Express is being built next to Domino convienence store.
Wishbone 05-20-2015, 06:45 AM So Raising Canes, Chick fil a, and Chicken Express all right down the road from each other. I like the options!

Don't forget KFC
Jon27 05-20-2015, 03:01 PM Don't forget KFC
You should! They suck.
kevinpate 05-24-2015, 05:54 PM Don't understand the fascination with Cain's. It's ok grub, but it's not a mountaintop experience to me. We have a friend who manages one, so I am glad for her that folks do like what she does for a living.
Also don''t understand the knocks on KFC. I'm not a fan of the crispy version, but the original ain't bad. It ain't bad at all. Mashed taters need work, and always have. Simply too thin and bland for me, but most taters not home made have that same problem.
kwhey 05-26-2015, 05:06 AM KFC went downhill when it was bought by YUM Brands. Same goes for Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.
sgt. pepper 05-26-2015, 07:09 AM You should! They suck.
I don't care for them either, but no matter how we feel about them, they are still a chicken chain. According to the food and drink forum, OKC is getting another chicken chain called Zaxbys, so maybe
Yukon can add another one to Chicken Row?

I'm the opposite. I used to like KFC, but it's just not as good. Might be the Yukon location.

How about we name the street Garth Brooks' Chicken Row?
