Thanks for the picture updates. Coming along nicely, but seems to be taking a little longer than I would expect (I guess they have a lot of retro-fitting to do).
Good stuff.

I think they're going to want to do murals on the shipping crates. The massing needs to be broken up.

Look at the renderings at the top of the page.

There will be all sorts of graphics.

I did just that. The particular red crate I was talking about made me scroll up to see if any additional lettering or window cuts would cover it, but they're actually left more blank than I first realized. In the rendering the corrugated ribboning looks more interesting than in real-life.

You've really become the unflinching anti-challenger, lately. :Smiley124 just kidding.

Steve's update.

OK Sea preparing for launch in Oklahoma City | News OK (http://newsok.com/ok-sea-preparing-for-launch-in-oklahoma-city/article/5398497)

The Deep Deuce development, made of shipping containers, is expected to welcome its first customers in May in Oklahoma City.

This is an interesting aspect about Anchor Down.

On the ground floor, the bar is already in and will soon be ready for set up of Anchor Down to begin.

“We’re ready to go,” said Joey Morris, Anchor Down co-owner. “We’re waiting to get in there and put our touch on it. We’re thinking based on the weather probably by May 1 for opening. We’re still developing the menu and beverages.”

The decor will match the industrial nature of the shipping containers, Morris said. Anchor Down also will feature items salvaged from the Rock Island Plow building that McKown is redeveloping nearby in Bricktown. Among the materials being re-used are wood flooring and hanging doors.

Does that sidewalk in the first photo take you down to the improvised stairway across the rr tracks?

Actually, I took the improvised stairway on Monday, and it does not line up with the sidewalk, which was a surprise to me. I wonder if there be a new improvised stairway or something because the sidewalk appears to go right up to the ROW.

There are two sets up steps over there. The wooden temp ones and some that on have the top and bottom steps that I guess they haven't gotten around to finishing yet. I would assume the sidewalk leads to the new ones but I'm not sure.

It looks better in person like you said.

My only complaint is access to the "bridges" via sidewalk is connected to the actual patio for this development. And the existing and new planters they have added completely block off walking access. So as it sits now, you either have to walk through the patio of (what will be tables and chairs) or go around through the grass against the Aloft property line. It would be nice if there was a second walk path through the grassy area on the east side of this lot, bordering aloft's property line.

Yes, I got a tour of the entire complex last week.

The Anchor Down space has a bar with reclaimed wood from the Plow building.

There are four tenant spaces: Anchor Down, a retail/gallery space on the ground floor and then two office spaces above. Rick McKown is taking one of those spaces.

It's all very, very cool.

They are going to build a more permanent set of stairs at the end of the sidewalk.

Also, I was touring the Holiday Inn Express yesterday and happened to notice this project from Main Street in Bricktown. Really eye-catching and cool.

I'm curious, how are they going to be able to build permanent stairs over the Union Pacific right of way? I know the rails are currently not in use, but somehow I don't think UP would appreciate someone building on their land across their tracks... As it is, I'm surprised the sidewalk ends as close to the rails as it does right now.

The stairs won't be truly permanent.

I doubt they asked for or received permission.

Looks like it was specifically built to remove in one piece if/when the time comes.

I would recommend they put a sign up that says "use at your own risk" or something to that effect. Can you imagine the legal storm if someone falls and hurts themselves on these? Not complaining, I love them vs the old ones.

There are two double gates; one near Anchor Down and the other you see in the second photo closer to Aloft.

That is a really bad location for a dog park. Should have a built a new road to connect to Bricktown and make it more appealing to develop that huge surface lot.

Also, speaking for places for parks and what not, I really wish they'd remove those cloverleafs and turn them into flyovers. That would open up a ton of development opportunities. It's amazing how much land is going unused just for the on and off ramps.

Pete
11-18-2015, 11:57 AM
Oklahoma has never gone through there as far as I know.

Plus, it's a dog park. Fence and grass. Easiest thing to move/remove in the world.
