I truly understand the importance of advertising and how it provides
money for programming and running the station. It's a critical part of
any media.

At any rate, here's the problem and I wonder if anyone else is bothered
by it.

Lately I've tried to watch a few movies on KSBI and have been annoyed
with the commercial to movie ratio. Tonight I tried to watch "Dressed to
Kill". The ratio was off the charts. At one point there were 10 minutes
of ads with about 4 minutes of movie between them. I know this
because I refuse to watch/listen to commercials and use a timer to alert
me when it's safe for viewing. (I turn to a channel that doesn't have a
signal and wait for the alarm. Can't stand to switch between shows.
According to Marketing Charts (http://www.marketingcharts.com/wp/television/average-hour-long-show-is-36-commercials-9002/) the average amount of ads per hour
is @13 minutes. KSBI had more than that in the first 30 minutes.

Tonight was the straw that broke the camel's back. About 30 minutes
was all I could take. It's the last time I'll try to watch a movie on KSBI.

Sounds like you need Tivo or a DVR.

Aren't those for cable? If so I just have analog. I do have Netflix
streaming but they don't have all the movies I'd like to see.

Commercials? What are those?

- DVR owner mantra

I do not recall the last time I watched something when it was scheduled to air.

I had a DVR several years ago and recorded a lot of programs. However,
I rarely watched them for one reason or another. I spent more time
erasing programs to make room for more programs than watching them.

Still, the amount of commercials to programming at KSBI is ridiculous.
I guess I'll stay with Netflix and channel 5.2 since the breaks are the
same length and at the same time.

Just got an email from Vince Orza. He agrees that there are too many
commercials but the station is programmed by THIS. There's isn't
anything he can do about it.
