I didn't post anything about this event (held over a week ago) because I wasn't quite sure what to make of it.

I'm still not sure what to make of it, but OU's IQC (Institute for Quality Communities) put up a nice page with photos of various pop-up parks here:

I think the basic idea of these pop-up parks is good enough, but the event was too fleeting. How many people even knew about it?

If it was done on a regular schedule -- e.g. every Friday afternoon/evening, where people would know it was coming up -- it might be more useful and taken advantage of.

Such as the issue with public participation and marketing. It's pretty hard to hit up all potential users... Part of the parklet idea is making it happen so that people stumble on them and revel in their playfulness and unexpected usefulness. Bricktown's is still up if you want to stop by again.
