Honestly, this might work to our favor for game 3 in Houston. They kind of started to figure out how to stop Westbrook after he mauled them in Game 1. Now they have to go against Reggie Jackson instead. Just a thought.

he scored 29 in game 2

I realize that, but he shot 47% (7-15) and 1-2 from 3 point range for 19 points in game one with 8 rebounds and 10 assists and shot 38% (10-26) and 1-7 from 3 point range in game two with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Yes, he scored more points, but he wasn't as efficient.

Metta World Peace just had this surgery and he was back in less than 2 weeks.

If we can stay alive through Houston and Clippers/Grizz. I think we see Russ back by WCF.

Apparently its very rare to come back that quickly. Usually its more like 6-8 weeks according to what I'm reading on Twitter.

6-8 is for the meniscus repair if it is a small tear they will just remove the part that is torn .. and then it is 2-4 weeks

Honestly I can see him being out the rest of the playoffs, because they want him 100% for next season.

Some quick thoughts:

Some sick part of me is excited to see KD go into hero mode.

Right now the west in celebrating unless you are wearing OKC.

Clippers suddenly look pretty tough.

Houston thinks they now have a shot.

Fisher may actually start (as to keep Reggie coming out with the bench).

The mission isn't about survival now, it is about the team taking the extra weight on their shoulders and rising above. Our cheesey slogan from a couple seasons ago is now in full effect.

Metta just had the surgery but he is not the same before the surgery. The way Westbrooks plays it will take at least two months to play like that.

If they want to win it all, the team can't revolve around just one player. While losing Westbrook sucks, the others on the roster that have the potential get to start earning those paychecks.

That's a laudable sentiment, and I certainly hope the rest of the team rises to the occasion. But the brutal truth is that championship teams are made because of championship level players. Russell Westbrook is what separates us from a lot of other teams.

Worst part of the injury was that it happened after a timeout was called and the referee had blown his whistle. Beverly had time to avoid hitting Westbrook but choose hit him.

My wife just a very similar surgery 3 weeks ago (minor meniscus tear). She walked from the car to the house when we got home from the surgery center. It was sore for the first 48 hours. She had her last physical therapy 2 days ago and is back to normal.

What happens if we win the next two games? Do we conclude Westbrook isn't all that important after all?

But not a surprising thought from you, given your username and my assumption of your general passion for sports.

With Westbrook being the machine that he is, we haven't had much (in fact, zero) chances to see how the team plays an entire game without him.
Actually, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see the team rally around each other and play really well the next couple of games. That kind of thing happens all the time.

As far as this series goes, I'm still pretty optimistic. We're ahead 2-0 and hold home court. Houston is the weakest team we'll see in the playoffs.
They do have some real talent, but they also have a roster full of young guys that tend to make bone-headed mistakes, particularly in crunch time.
But after the Rockets...

Look, when you lose the second best guy on your team (and on some nights, he is the best) -- not to mention one of the best players in the league... the
news is just not good.

No, should be fine against the 8th seed up 2 games. If they win a series after that with Westbrook out? then yes. Hope we can say that, I'd love for them to make it back to the finals, just going to be very tough to do now.

The good news is that this type of surgery doesn't require them to cut into him and the meniscus is not load bearing. It is just 3 little holes that only require a stich each. My prediction is that Russell back on the court by the conference finals.

I am confident that we will the series. What I cant wait for is the series vs the Clippers. If be successful in that series. I know a lot of Thunder fans who said the Clippers is going to kill us and now with Westbrook gone, this is going to a hell of a playoff run.

Some people aren't like that and that's okay. Me, you shove me and I'm shoving back twice as hard. As I say, welcome to the f*****g show. As far as sportsmanship goes, it wouldn't be the "right" thing to do, but I'd still do it.

Also, try not to hate on me for thinking that way as I don't really keep up with sports that often. I just like the Thunder because of the positive energy it brings to OKC and the spotlight as well. I do hope Westbrook makes a speedy recovery so he can jump back and help out the team.

To Anonymous, I am actually and OU fan, preferably lol. Isn't that just ironic. I like OSU too though, so maybe I have some class ;P

The Thunder will play Memphis maybe. Even if Westbrook come back in two weeks and play he will not be the same player it will take about eight weeks total to have same speed and jumping ability before the injury.

Well, Reggie will have to show us what he's made of. Luckily, he has started to come into his own & is a pretty solid backup. Hope he does well as a starter. Eric Maynor was one of the best backups in the league, but he just didn't play the same after his injury. He's played pretty well for Portland though.

When Ibaka made that shot, a friend mentioned that it should be a Top 10 play, to which I said, only if we win. Anyone know if it was?

For the record...I'm wearing my Westbrook jersey for the rest of our run. It's the alt jersey, but I don't care since it's the only one of his that I own.

I predict..... we lose the next game. Because now that Brooks has the 3rd win under his belt he will want to play around with different combos and adjustments. He knows KD can't be the whole team for the entire series run. He came through for the critical game we needed. Now we can take time to figure out what will work best as a whole team.
