OKLAHOMA CITY — Dale Robertson, an Oklahoma native who became a star of television and movie Westerns during the genre’s heyday, died Tuesday. He was 89.

He was a steady worker in his day though never really a star. He was also a dedicated Oklahoman and this is a sad loss for our state.

Decent deal. Didn't he used to own a ranch over around Yukon?

You were right. He had a stint hosting Death Valley Days.

Yes, he did own a ranch north of Yukon. Had to sell most of it in the mid-80s after the oil bust, but lived in a smaller house close to the ranch.

Sounds a bit like E.W. Marland . . . 'cepting fer it was Ponca City instead of Yukon, and more of a mansion than a ranch.
