Read the article above -- there's still time this year.

I love this line from the news9 article

It was definitely chilly Saturday morning, around 30 degrees, and the water was much colder than that.

The reporter was obviously not a science major in school.

Every time I see one of these I think about joining in...then I come to my senses. (Much colder than 30, huh? Still trying to wrap my head around that one.)

I once (and only once) took a cold shower. Just for grins, to see what it would be like (you know, people are always saying "go take a cold shower").

Oh.my.God

Had I been outside, my screams probably could have been heard a block away. Definitely an experience. Dare I say... traumatic? lol

So no, I don't think I'll be doing any Polar Plunging. Please excuse my wimpiness. I'll happily contribute to charities in the normal (warm and dry) manner.

Oh, and unless that pool was a 50/50 mix of anti-freeze and water.... then I'm pretty sure it was above 30 degrees.

Physics aside, I have no doubt the water was plenty dang cold enough!

Another polar plunge pic... but this one is not from OKC, but from Medicine Park, OK:

Look at the turnout! Just shows that there are a lot of crazy people in this world.

No! Did that once accidentally while stationed at Ellsworth A.F.B. A few of us were up in the Balck Hills playing around on one the frozen lakes. I found out you do not go stomping where somebody has been ice fishing. Shot my arms out and did not go under all the way, but wow. 30 minute drive back to the base in a VW bug. The original kind. Nice heaters. Stood in a hot shower for 30 minutes before I could see if I was still a boy or not.
