Has anyone heard anything about this mall? Ive heard rumors that several stores (Old Navy & Dillards) are headed out and that will leave this thing pretty much empty.

The Old Navy is very new. There's a Ross, Kohl's, arenovated multiplex cinema,, and a Penney's (IIRC). The Shawnee Mall is in a much better situation than most malls.

Ok, hopefully the rumors I heard about the mall in Shawnee are false then.

Don't discount those rumors, though. Maybe Dillards has decided that the Shawnee market isn't worth the rent. I read an article the other day (from Linked In) about malls saturating the retail real estate market and that rents are declining as demand is declining and supply continues to go up (albeit, slowly). It linked the decline (but not fall) of Brick and Mortar stores to the increase on online retail. The author stated he didn't think that either was going to go the way of the dodo (nor the mall, for that matter), but that good malls will find a way to survive while lazy ones won't. He noted in his statistics good data on Simon malls, but ho-hum data on General Growth and two other major retail real estate holders.

I heard the rumors with the Shawnee mall is most of the people in the area go to the penn or quail to shop...then use the mall in Shawnee to return or exchange so they aren't really profiting.
