It would require "exotic matter" which gathering will be an adventure on it's own. It's a start though!

Interesting, pretty sure a working prototype won't be ready for testing in this century though unless we get help from another world. lol

We only need to have it by 2063 to keep on track with Star Trek

I was going to like but it's not working for me.

I know, were good at making predication that don't come true as a species but I actually believe that for the first time, this century will be the one of science fiction. A lot is going to come true.

I think the first 12 years of this century are proving you right. I'm amazed by the technology we have. Which may be a sign of age. I've noticed older people tend to be more impressed with the technology with which they live.

We may never have flying cars because moving in 3 dimensions is so much more complicated than moving in two dimensions, but just look at what we do have and where we are going.

The phone in your pocket can do more than just make phonecalls. It can do amazing things.

The driverless car is a thing now. It's not just a rendering on the cover of Popular Mechanics. It's not mass produced yet but...

Software such as Photoshop and Final Cut Pro have put into the hands of Joe Consumer what major Hollywood studios used to spend millions for and it only cost us between a few hundred bucks to a few thousand.

In car technology is becoming more amazing by the year.

Just imagine being able to tell your 1983 self what would exist in 30 years. Would you have believed it?

Being 3 at that time, I probably could convince my younger self.

Just the facts

It's 2013. We're living in the future, but where are all the flying cars? One inventor says he's received FAA approval to begin testing his flying car, another step towards making flying cars a reality.

Paul Moller told local TV station Fox 40 that the FAA says he can fly the car on June 10, 2014, without a tether.

We can always dream though. If we spent half the energy used on bashing each other over social issues on advancing the human race and bettering ourselves...50 years would be doable.

I've read about this dude in the past. I think he's been working on it for like 20 years or something.

They tried flying cars way back in the late 30's and early 40's but they went over like a lead balloon.

I love that pic. Reminds me of this Men Who Plan Beyond Tomorrow! (http://technologizer.com/2010/01/03/men-who-plan-beyond-tomorrow/) <--kinda interesting.

Maybe NASA should start working on a transporter to import the dilithium crystals that will be required for the warp drive.
I would suggest that they forget about trilithium crystals on account of they are liable to accidentally import tribbles.

Perhaps they could avail themselves of the services of the fine folks behind this catalog in order to cut costs:
