Here it comes:

Will it be freezing cold?

most likely!

The events schedule:

Obligatory pics from previous years:

Only the giant ball will rise in the Myriad Gardens (not in Kerr Park, as in the pic).

And no Flaming Lips freakout this year, apparently.

Really nice promo video for this year's Opening Night:

Love the shot with the spinning logos reflecting off of Crystal Bridge while the crowds mull around it and the traffic moves past in the background. Lots of other great crowd shots too.

Very good job.

(oh, and Christina Foss is cute)

Planning a little downtown photography tonight (weather permitting). Can anyone tell me:
1) How they determine when midnight is (US Naval Observatory clock, GPS, Apple devices, other)?
2) The fireworks launching site.

devon parking garage roof is launch site this year. As for time, i imagine it's timed to event producer's watch.

Which Devon parking garage will be used? The one between the library and the tower?

There is only one Devon garage. Yes between the library and the tower.

Thank you. I assumed as much, but didn't want to steak out a viewing spot, only to be obstructed by a tower. Happy New Year, everyone.

I'm not going to be out but I hope there is a super turnout and that people have a fun, safe time. If anyone on the board is going, I hope they tell us how they liked it. In the meantime - Happy New Year! to all our forum members. May 2013 be one of the best years, yet.

They've posted a few shots of Opening Night on the Myriad Garden facebook page. Here's a few:

For some inexplicable reason, I find the second photo particularly compelling.

Just curious....the weather was too chilly and breezy for my crew to make it out for Opening Night this year, esp. after being snakebit by the 40-mph gales *last* year, so we just stayed in. Could anyone that did attend relay how things went? Attendance? General atmosphere?
