Dobson Cellular Systems to add 200 jobs in Oklahoma City
Posted: Thursday, June 09, 2005

Dobson Cellular Systems, a major provider of wireless communication services in 16 states headquartered in Oklahoma City, has announced it is adding nearly 200 jobs here.

Dobson is actively recruiting candidates for positions in its new nationwide customer care center scheduled to open later this month, according to Brian Boone, vice president of business operations. Positions available range from entry level through management.

"This is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to superior customer care," Boone said. "We're equally excited we can bring these additional jobs to the central Oklahoma area."

The new positions are being created as a result of a restructuring plan Dobson is implementing throughout its existing customer care centers currently located in Youngstown, Ohio, Duluth, Minn., and Lagrangeville, New York. The company announced last month it will close its customer care center in Frederick, Maryland.

"This is good news for both Dobson and for Oklahoma City," said Mayor Mick Cornett in a prepared statement. "An expansion of this magnitude is a true vote of confidence in the economy, workforce and direction of our city."

Dobson Cellular Systems is a subsidiary of Dobson Communications Corporation. The company operates wireless markets in more than 65 rural and suburban markets and covers a population base in excess of 11.7 million.
