The above picture is the vacant lot where the Falls Creek Baptist Assembly tabernacle used to stand. They have torn down the old tabernacle to make room for the new, state of the art, tabernacle. The old tabernacle was open air, with no heat and no air. The new one will be enclosed and will have heat and air so that the tabernacle can be used year round.

This year the youth that attend Falls Creek will be worshipping in a "temporary" ampitheater, which is just over the hill from the old tabernacle. The old tabernacle was actually directly across the street from our church cabin, so it will be strange to step out of our cabin and see nothing but dirt.

Whoa! That lot looks pretty empty without the Tabernacle and the chapel sitting on it! What a change. For those like me who have been there and know the changes that have taken place in the lives of people there, this is a major milestone, while at the same time, in a way, we mourn the loss. Still, it was only a building, and I'm glad that Falls Creek is finally moving into the 21st century (actually the 20th Century) with a new enclosed, tabernacle.

I left my fair share of sweat.. and, yes, I left my name carved into many of those old wooden benches! Good times..but I guess they are a changin'. Our cabin was right across the street, too. Going to miss the way it was!

I hear ya......part of you is going to miss the old days at Falls Creek. There just something about sweating through summer nights out there and hearing the sounds of mother nature as you're leaving the tabernacle.

Oh yeah. I remember the excellent times I had at The Creek when I was a teenager. I spent many times by myself in the tabernacle, just praying. I will miss the old tabernacle, however, it is time to step up to modern technology and have a state of the art tabernacle built.

I hope to go down to Falls Creek sometime this summer and look at all the changes that have been made.

BTW, Keith, that is an awesome picture of where the tabernacle USED to be.

By the way, here's a pic of what the new tabernacle will look like. It will seat over 7,000 people in an enclosed, air conditioned environment.
