View Full Version : Good local source for Penn Sq. Bank info?

I know someone who is working on a story about possible parallels between Penn Square Bank and Chesapeake. I actually raised this point previously and others are starting to pick up on it: If CHK was to fail how would OKC be affected in various ways (real estate, employment, civic support, image) and how would that compare to what happened with PSB?

I was around during the bank collapses and the crazy domino effect afterwards but this writer would like to speak to a local leader, businessman, etc. that might offer a good perspective of the 80's and also the present situation.

Please provide any ideas here or feel free to send a PM. Would greatly appreciate any thoughts, ideas, referrals, etc.

I don't know if these would be considered "local sources" but they both probably contain many leads to local sources. I came across these back when the recent Chesapeake problems first came to light. Haven't read either of them yet, but I'm planning to.

I have read both RM and they are informative. I have doubts that any new book at this time about PSB will expose any new or shocking information. Having relatives that were financially harmed by the closure and resultant decline in the energy industry that is a part of OK history many would like to forget.

That's a good thing. It proves you are alive and aware.
(it makes my head hurt too . . . not to mention my heart)
