It's interesting and not too suprising that most cities on this list are concentrated in our area of the US with two in Oklahoma.

There is a reason every single one of those cities are so cheap. $2,000 for a 3br home in Memphis?? Sheesh..

That's like how according to urban legend you can buy a house for the price of a VCR in Cleveland.

Spartan, that is obviously an abberation and that really has little to do with the concept of cheapest cities that they're talking about. They are looking at current listings for houses and it could be one house just about to fall over. No one seriously thinks any of these cities have liveable houses in that price range.
