Need Help?
If after reading through the following instructions you still have questions, or there is something not covered here, please respond to this thread.

We will update this article as issues arise.

What is an article?
In certain forums we have set up a wikipedia-like function where the first post in every thread is actually an article the summarizes key information and images for that particular topic. Because most threads have pages and pages of posts, over time it becomes difficult to find the most important information. Also, articles can be grouped into various indexes which make it much easier to find topics and groups of topics (much more on this to come).

Adding New Articles
If you wish to post a new thread/article on an urban building/development, start on the main page of the forum and click on "Post New Article". This is very similar to creating a regular thread. After creating a short, unique title enter your post as with any thread.

At a later point, Administration will probably reformat the article with a template.

Who can edit articles?
Gold and Platinum subscribers to the site have permission to edit articles. To subscribe, go here (http://www.okctalk.com/payments.php).

Also, special exceptions can be made. Send a personal message to Pete if you want to be added to the Wiki Editors group.

Editing Basics
Articles in this forum have three distinct parts: Summary, Other Sections and Photos.

The Summary section is based on a centralized template, so it must be edited in a slightly different way and special care must be taken to not change any of the code.

Other Sections is all the other text. links and information outside of the Summary and Photos. It can be easily edited in a text box without fear of messing up anything else.

Administration will take care of the photo found in the Summary. For all other photos, they need to be uploaded (not linked!) as described in detail below.

Editing the Summary Information
Please be very careful in this section as there is a template in use. Merely enter information after the appropriate "=" sign.

Editing Sections Other Than Summary
For everything other than the Summary section, it's much easier to use the text edit box:

Adding Photos and Other Images
As stated above, please do not add or edit the image in the Summary section Administrators will take care of this.

To add other important images, merely attach them as thumbnails and a gallery will be created at the bottom of the article.

Start by saving the desired image to your hard drive; even if they are already shown in the thread. Merely right click on the image and use "Save image as..." function to save the full-sized image to your computer.

Then, follow these instructions to upload to the article and create a gallery. Please do not link photos from elsewhere or embed larger images within an article.

I tried to add an article and failed. :/ I looked at the "how to add articles" but there is not enough info on how to add a summary to an article.

I tried adding a Memorial Museum article and it didn't work. I can't even comment on it now. I PM'd Pete, but I guess he got off and didn't notice it. Anyone here know?
