Key Quote:
"Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are still trying to fill the void created by Eric Maynor's season-ending knee injury, are deciding whether to register a formal bid for Fisher."

This would be a good back up to Russell Westbrook, as he is a seasoned NBA player with many years of playoff experience under his belt.

as a laker and thunder fan .. this would be a bad idea ... Fish is now horrible on D can't run and O (never has) and has not shot the ball well this season

0 reason for the thunder to sign him ... and would be a big risk to the great chemistry of the team

Fisher isnt some headcase. He is a solid veteran that will only play about 15 minutes, he would not be hurting any chemistry that we have. Simply put, we dont have a team to win it all this year, maybe not even the West. Adding Fisher, only for the rest of this season, will give us a better shot to win the West and possibly the whole shabang.

It's a funny thought considering Perk and Fisher would be on the same team.

Seems like a longshot from statements Presti has made over that last couple weeks, granted if they thought it was the right move then everything said up to this point is moot.

So say we did get fisher for a year, wouldn't that give westbrook and Jackson a veteran point guard to follow and get tips from......

.........on the other hand he is making like 38%of his shots.......has a terrible efficiency rating and a couple other issues, the question in the end is "Is it worth it?"

It appears as though Miami and Oklahoma City have come out as the frontrunners to sign Fisher.

HE IS NOT GOOD ... .. he is now a BAD defender he is not shooting well ... and he has NEVER been a run the team PG ... the triangle doesn't require one

Game 6 of the western conf. finals... or even the NBA finals... who would you pick to have the ball in their hands? Reggie Jackson or Derek Fisher?

Look, I love Reggie as a talent and with his potential I think he'll be very good... but for this year the answer is definitely Fisher.

Here is an article from back in '09. It is an interview with Fisher.

Check out some of the great things he was saying about OKC back then: http://www.usatoday.com/travel/celebrity/2009-06-08-derek-fisher_N.htm

Ok, he just won me over with that.

Ryan Reid or Lazar Hayward. Most likely Reid.

Also the 2-year deal would be worth 7 million, this year being 1.2 million and next year being 5.8 million with player option.

Yeah, I would say Reid as well. Lazar plays defense against Durant in practice. Gotta keep him.

Just minutes ago Marc Stein at ESPN says it's a more or less a done deal. Just waiting for Fisher to clear waivers at 5:00 our time.

"Derek Fisher and the Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to terms on a rest-of-the-season contract that will be signed after Fisher clears waivers, according to sources close to the process. Fisher is scheduled to clear waivers at 6 p.m. ET Wednesday and is already in Oklahoma City in anticipation of joining the Thunder, who beat out the Miami Heat to add Fisher for the playoffs."

solid pick up by the Thunder to have someone back up Westbrook in the playoffs, basically we are renting him for the rest of the year, so we can make a decent playoff run, then we will release him, and bring Maynor back once he is healthy, which I hear he might be back sooner than expected.

When they sent Reid back to the 66ers earlier this week that was pretty clear he would be the one if they made the deal.

You won't have to miss him too much... He was only on the 66ers for Saturday. He's back with the Thunder tonight.

Brooks (as he does... see Jeff Green) played Fisher way too much against Minny. He needs to give Royal or Reggie some of those minutes.

"Those teams can't afford sentiment for the sake of wins, and there was no way they would risk shaking up their locker room culture with an aging old Laker unless they thought he could still help them win."

You can bet that Sam Presti and Scott Brooks were selective in their decision-making on player personnel; they don't want someone who could be a risk to the harmony the team currently has in the locker room. Fisher appears to be the best bargain chip for the Thunder based on what was available. Remember the year Memphis picked up A. Iverson? Well, you know the rest of that story...

Great article Questor, Thanks!
