I've had two sales people come to my door on different days selling magazines supposedly for veterans. The usual speel, trying to win a trip, blah blah blah.

The company seems to be Midwest Circulation LLC. BBB rating of F and some not so good stories about them on the web.

I had the same kinda bunch come thru almost 2 years ago. The young girl had a good speil and after 20 or 30 mins of bartering i got a subscription to pc tech magazine. It took me the better part of a year of raising holy heck to actually get the subscription but they did send me a years worth of rolling stone for my trouble.

I've never seen an at the door sales pitch for print items that provided lower prices than one can find on-line, and purchasing on-line has the advantage of no one wanting to enter the home for any reason.

A simple 'no, thank you, good luck to you' is all there is to it, at least for my house. I am however far more open to the pitches from Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.

I've seen a recent increase as well. Normally, that type of door to door sales has stayed out of my neighborhood, so they're branching out it seems..

the other day,
my wife called me
to the door
with a mild inquiry
regarding the state of
my current possession
of some greenish paper
that some refer to as
cash

this was after
she responded
to a knock
on the abovementioned barrier
to the free flow of commerce

it was a small passle
of some cute li'l kids
selling BBQ sauce
for their church.

they could have been selling
BBQ Cooking Magazines
for all i cared

i handed over
a five dollar bill
never asking to see
their permit
to do business

it was sort of like
trick or treat
in february

Careful about these folks. You don't know whether they are really selling for charity (probably not) or whether they are casing your house for a future burglary. Wait for the kids raising money for their band or just buy online.
