Well about all the worst case stories came true. @UTEP was rumored for a couple of weeks and also playing a FCS team. Thanks WVU. :-P lol

Money

Please explain how this will MAKE OU money. It costs OU a lot of money. A home game makes much more. I hear UTEP will play at OU twice in the future though.

Obviously I don’t have the money numbers but other teams wanted too much money to play a one and done game in Norman.

If it’s true that OU gets 2 games in return OU will make more money in the long run by traveling on the road this year.
OU is, where they can, taking a stand against the huge price increases that many out of conference visiting teams want when playing a one and done game.
This issue is why some have been advocating for more members in various conferences.

The conference realignment mess has made this year’s scheduling more difficult than normal.

If OU is playing UTEP in El Paso for money then it must be taking a huge financial hit by hosting Florida A&M in Norman.

The schedule is just a reflection of the current instability and the constant changes in the conference landscape, once things sort out I don't think they will be scrambling as much to get games scheduled.

UTEP usually does a 2 for 1 game with the higher profile schools to get a game in El Paso, UT has had several of those scheduled over the years. UT also just had a series like that with Wyoming in which I think Wyoming still owes them a game in Austin sometime in the future. I would rather OU have setup a home and home or 2 for 1 series with Air Force, Wyoming or Colorado State, that is a day trip for us. The Sun Bowl stadium is a nice setting, my wife's aunt lives about a half mile from the stadium.

When games are normally scheduled years in advance and with the all the conference realignment the past 2 years pretty much all BIG 12 teams get a pass for their scheduling problems this year.

OU OOC schedule still includes Notre Dame. Several media personalities are already call this ND game OU’s biggest non-conference home game in at least 25+ years. I’m glad I will have tickets to this historic game.

I am so angry with the schedule makers. WHY in the world is our 1st game away? And WHY in the world is it not against a ranked oppenent?! A football program like OU deserves the first game to be home, against a potential team. Our first 2 games just doesnt feel like a game to be excited for.

They had no choice. It is already February and most schools had their schedules done a month or so ago. Hopefully SOS doesn't come to bite us in December.

The back end of the schedule looks like it has fairly strong SOS to it.
Just win,,,,,,, and everything will take care of its self.

Eh, all depends how teams play. Not that I'm betting on an undefeated season this year. It would be nice, but we'll need to see how things shake out.

i love the way the schedule sets up for us. We play some fairly easy teams first and the hard teams are backloaded. WE need a couple easy games at first for some of our players to develop. For example, the tight end spot, since we have NO ONE returning from last year. not to mention the two DE's, LB, and Left Tackle we have to replace. The easy games at the first will help us build some experience and confidence in our younger guys. If we put it all together, we should win the big games down the stretch and that will REALLY help us get SOS purposes as someone mentioned earlier.

I’m in 100% agreement with you.
Our youth will need the easier games to help them later in the season.
I hope Stoops plays our younger players quicker than he sometimes has in blow out games.
In the event of injuries it would help build depth and help during the 2013 season.
