No not the WWE Rasslin type...the true sport of collegiate wrestling.

The #1 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys are hosting one of four regionals for the National Duals next Sunday Feb 12 at Gallagher Iba Arena. This is a tournament that will try and crown a team champion, with two teams facing each other head to head. The Stillwater regional will have Boise St, Nebraska, Ohio St, Wyoming and Tennessee-Chattanooga competing. Hopefully the Cowboy's will win the regional, and with decent attendance, they will also host the Finals the following weekend.

The tenth ranked Oklahoma Sooners will travel to Ithaca, New York to compete in the regional hosted by Cornell University.

I was a big wrestling fan when I was in school at OU in the 60's. I attended many matches at the old field house when it was packed. Even though both OSU and OU continue to field great nationallly ranked teams there just doesn't seem to be the interest that there used to be.

Yes, interest in the sport has definitely waned in this state though youth participation is still strong. There was a time that the wrestling matches would draw bigger crowds than the college basketball teams did. The name Bedlam originated from the OSU/OU wrestling matches

Good day for a couple of former Sooner wrestlers. Former Edmond resident and 4x All American for OU Sammy Hazewinkel, and former Sooner national champ and current OU assistant coach Jared Frayer both earned spots on the USA's Olympic wrestling team that will compete in London later this summer.
