The Oklahoma City Symphonic Band under the direction of Dr. Mark G. Belcik announces their upcoming “An American Music Salute to Our Veterans” concert. The concert will feature guest conductor Dr. Robert L. Spinks, Professor Sociology at OCU. The “Star Spangled Banner (Finale)” by John Higgins will feature Marlen Nahhas, Soprano Senior Vocal Performance major from Houston, TX. Other performance selections include “Hymn To The Fallen” by John Williams, “Variations On America” by Charles Ives, “Slava” by Leonard Bernstein and “Rest” by Frank Ticheli. The concert will be at 7:30 pm on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Oklahoma City University, Wanda L. Bass School of Music in the Petree Recital Hall, 2501 N Blackwelder, OKC 73106. Admission is free however donations will be accepted. The Oklahoma City Symphonic Band is comprised of approximately one hundred professional and amateur musicians from across the metro area. The band is under direction of Dr. Mark G. Belcik, Associate Dean of Music at Oklahoma City University.
