Anyone else here do the Warrior Dash in Tulsa (http://warriordash.com/register2011_oklahoma.php) this past Saturday?

This is the first year the WD has been held in Oklahoma, but hopefully not the last.

Didn't see OKC promotion for it, but apparently it was decently promoted and covered in Tulsa (http://www.newson6.com/story/15538622/athletes-gear-up-for-oklahoma-tulsa-warrior-dash?redirected=true).

I'd love to see it in OKC in the future. There are several other mud run type events throughout the year in Oklahoma, but the WD seems to be the best attended and organized.

We rented a great mansion (http://www.vrbo.com/190808) near the race for the weekend. I went with my wife and some friends and had an unbelievable time. So much so we are signing up for the one in North Texas and Colorado next year.

Just curious if any other OKCTalker's attended and what your thoughts were and recommendations for other similar runs in the state.

The Dirty Thirty was similar but not as well put together, north of OKC.

I bet that 3 mile run felt more like 10 running in that mud.
+1 For the mansion.

Actually, it wasn't too bad. Of course it took about and hour to go the 3.2 miles with all the obstacles and navigating the people.

VRBO.com is the only way to go when looking for a place to stay. That mansion was unbelievable and only $500/night TOTAL for 5 bedrooms, a pool, stocked pond, theatre room etc. We've found great deals on that site for places all over the US.

I did this quick promo for the wife in iMovie (good thing she has a good sense of humor).

Looks like a fun event. Turkey Mtn is a gem. I definitely recommend checking it out if you are in Tulsa and interested in hiking or mountain biking. It's even better now that it's all connected to the river trails.

OKC's version is called the Dirty 30. This year was the inaugural year and had a tremendous turnout. I did some of the ads for it. Warrior Dash is a corporate cookie cutter chain type race. Support OKC's local home grown version, The Dirty 30!

Also, Warrior Dash was advertised well in OKC, just not as much since it was a Tulsa race.

No reason not to support both. The Dirty 30 was a great race too, but, being its inaugural year, it was not nearly as smoothly run from a participant's perspective. But yes, it was every bit as challenging as the Warrior Dash. The thing I like about the WD is it is so well run/attended, there is almost always a 50% off Groupon and since they hold them all over the country we make our vacation plans around attending.

My tip for Dirty 30 participants is to take a $30 popup changing tent and a couple of gallons of water. The line to get showered off at the event was over an hour at times.

Looks like it was a fun time. I'll have to check them both out the next time they come around.

No date/place yet for the 2012 Dirty 30, but we'll most likely do that again too.

Even for non-participants its still a fun event. Live music, beer, turkey legs, and lots of people watching (many in costumes). Can't recall the D30 rules, but the WD let non-participants hangout for free! Some other mud type races actually charge around $10 just to watch.
