Lesser prairie chicken populations are dwindling, but some fear an ‘endangered’ designation might stress the economy.

Critters like that are pretty well screwed by 2050 or so under any realistic emissions model anyways. We should declare it, but the only real positive effect will be the few blocked wells and the carbon that stays in the ground. The birds will either migrate or die. Most likely the latter.

This is a growing problem.
