This article comes fromone of our very own posters, downtown guy, from his blog site. I thought downtown guy had an interesting take on this story. Many of you may remember awhile back when Shan Gray was looking at both OKC and Tulsa to build a 17 story Native American statue. Supposedly he said it was fully financed and all the city needed to do was provide the land. Well, check out the article for the latest details:

"Back in March, Oklahoma City leaders were approached with a tempting offer - provide an ideal spot near Bricktown for a 17-story, $26 million Indian statute and private investors would take care of the rest. Tulsa was salivating at the offer, having been approached first. Oklahoma City leaders were more skeptical. Artist Shan Gray was and is a reputable sculptor who created the Shannon Miller statute next to the Edmond library. But beyond questions about the cost itself, Oklahoma City movers and shakers were dubious of a project that Gray said was fully funded, but wouldn't identify the investors.
So Gray "awarded" the project to Tulsa.
To this day, he's yet to identify the investors. And now reports are circulating that he's saying he only has one-third of the project funded - which is definitely a reversal of what he was saying in March. More on this story to come ...
