Does anyone remember the name of the grocery store that was on N Western right around 7/11 or maybe Kambers approx 72nd or 73rd?
I recall going in there as a young child and remember the meat market among other things.

Does anyone remember when you could tell what county a car was registered in by the alpha part of your license number? Oklahoma County was XA through XZZ, Tulsa county was YA through YZZ. Other counties were more obvious; Logan was LG, Lincoln was LN, Kiowa was KI, Kingfisher was KF, Pottawattomie was PW, etc.

If you were a member of the counter-culture in the late 60s/early 70s you would also know that if you saw a Plymouth Fury whose license number was XY-29** you knew it was the narco detectives. Buddy Burns, anyone?

Oklahoma County was XA through XZZ, Tulsa county was YA through YZZ.

Actually OK County was both X & Y and Tulsa always started with Z.

I'll go you one better. When I was a kid, I remember tag numbers were all numeric, nn-nnnn, where the first two digits designated the county. The numbers, 01-77, were assigned by the population of each county for that year (Oklahoma County was always 01, Tulsa county 02, etc.). Tags were replaced each year.

I can still remember the tag on my 1970 Mustang: XO-5098.

But strangely, I couldn't tell you my current tag number without looking it up!

You are correct, I stand humbled.

In 1973 the plate # on my 1958 Jaguar MkI was XS-8002.

Only tag I've held in memory in over 25 years is when my daughter had a vanity plate during her high school years.
