Visual Arts Center Story in Tulsa World (http://www.tulsaworld.com/site/printerfriendlystory.aspx?articleid=20110525_272_A 1_CUTLIN722530)

This project has been fundraising for 5 or 6 years now, so it is great to see that it is coming to fruition. Coupled with the Zarrow Center for Arts Education and the Philbrook/Adkins Collection that Kaiser is funding next door, this block will become one of the most dynamic arts centers in this part of the country. Pretty damn cool if you ask me:

If the Oklahoma Pop Museum is ever built it will be across the street (to the south).

There is also an urban park under construction just north of the arts center as well as major streetscape projects:

That park is going to be amazing. An old truck loading dock and facility....they are drilling a geothermal field to heat and cool all of the aforementioned buildings...There will be a farmers market there, and a lawn for performance space. The Brady is shaping into a full blown neighborhood...

Geothermal wells drilled in Brady District

A drilling rig is up and running in the Brady Arts District on the site of the planned Park on Brady, boring 120 holes for 500-foot-deep geothermal wells that will heat and help cool the Tulsa Paper Co. and Hardesty Arts Center.

If there's one place in desperate need of major streetscape improvements it is Brady.

I know they've been talking about doing all of this stuff for an insanely long time. So the Visual Arts Center is coming to fruition, what about Zarrow, Philbrook, and Matthews Warehouse?

Philbrook is already under construction, Matthews Warehouse should start within the next 6-8months.
