I think this is a pretty cool list!

It ranks skylines based on points. Points are derived from taking all of the city's buildings that are 90m or taller. You then subtract 90m from each building, and those are the points.

On this list, Oklahoma City ranks 165th in the world and (if I counted correctly) ranks 43rd in the United States with 244 points.

When Devon Tower is topped out, OKC will move up to the 32nd best skyline in the US and 131st in the world with 413 points.

Also, Tulsa ranks 116th in the world and 28th in the US with 507 points.

I wish they could have found away to make density and consistancy factors. Mexico City is higher on the list at 37 than Vancouver is at 62 but never in a million years would anyone consider Mexico City to have a better skyline than Vancouver. Many of Mexico City's tall building are spread out all over the area while Vancouver's are clustered in just a few areas. Seattle is also 15 positions lower than Las Vegas, which are not even in the same league together, which indicates that the list is is skewed in favor supertalls. Maybe they should put a cap on how much each build could score - say 180 points max. He should also have included spires and antennas on the tops of the building - they are part of the skyline.

It looks like there are thousands of little pocket parks, which work well when surrounded by such amazing density.

My luck I would move the Shanghai, walk out to the corner market, and forget which building I live in. I would then spend the rest of my life looking for it.

I'd put Austin above Kansas City, Baltimore and New Orleans.

What are those two huge towers back in the back on the right and left? They must be 500 stories! (hee hee!)

Looking at google maps even shanghai's sprawl looks to have more urban elements than many US cities.

Shanghai has 6700 buildings over 11 stories tall with over 4000 built in the last decade. That's a lot of cranes.

If they were built anything like the homes built here in the US during the housing boom they will all be ghetto-fabulous in the next few years.

dmoor82, my first thoughts on your pics were the top one looks like hell and the lower one looks like hell with neon.

I suppose I'll never be cut out for big city life. My first thoughts on the Shanghi model was I am so glad i don't live there.

Dallas has great architecture, however IMO their downtown isn't all that dense. I was just down there this weekend and it still feels dead - much like OKC's.

I was in Vancouver in March - LOVED IT. Such an Amazing city, OKC could learn a lot from our Neighbors to the north.

Driving north from Seattle into Vancouver you can't see the downtown immediately, then you crest a hill and suddenly that beautiful skyline with the mountains is spread in front of you. It is a very pretty sight.

Tall buildings are pretty cool and Hong Kong is one of my favorites, but I still prefer the low-rise density of London. I would post my favorite picture but it is 80 giga-pixels. Here is a link.

If you just want sheer volume - check out Sao Paulo. Here is a photo but to get a proper understanding go to Google Earth and turn on 3D buildings, then check out Sao Paulo.

Tru dat, but for sheer volume it can't be topped.

My personal favorites are:
1. Hong Kong
2. NYC
3. Chicago
4. Shanghai
5. Vancouver
Others that I really like, in no particular order, are Toronto, Seattle, San Francisco, and Sydney, Australia.

No question that the natural settings of Hong Kong and Vancouver bump those two up. That scale-model in Shanghai really is spectacular. I was fortunate to visit it a couple of years ago, and it blew me away. There's a similar, though much smaller one along Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
