Janis Mercer, the embattled executive director of Jesus House, retired this week at the request of her board of directors.

The board asked for Mercer's resignation at the suggestion of the state attorney general's office, which has been investigating alleged financial mismanagement at the Oklahoma City nonprofit homeless shelter since last summer, said Kim Byrd, the board's chairwoman.

Seems a touch odd for the AG office to be assisting in the search for a new CEO. Article only glances on that so perhaps there are fairly clear reasons that simply didn't fit in the allotted space.
