Has OKC looked at attracting this company? It is almost ready to leave Illinois. Is the state and city actively looking in the high tax state of CA, IL, and NY to relocate companies to OKC and Tulsa? Now is our time to strike!

That is the type of company that would fit into the Okc demographics.

Nothing says Oklahoma better than rugged heavy-duty construction equipment.

We should go after them and John Deere. They are also in Illinois. Just think of all the engineering jobs that would be here. OSU, OCU, Tulsa, and OU engineering grads could get jobs besides oil and gas and stay in the state!

Here's the letter to IL Governor from the CEO and it also mentions the states that have been talking to him. No mention of Mary Fallin. She needs to be on the phone ASAP if she hasn't already. Leadership! We need to be on top of these things!

Please don't have Mary call them if we want a chance!

The State of Oklahoma needs to open up three field offices; LA, Chicago, and NYC. They should be trying to recruit every company in these three states and running tv commercials, billboards, and radio spots. Heck, I would even see if I could get some signs on city buses.

Good idea Kerry, and they could use your slogan,"Oklahoma City - The surprise your family has been looking for."

If they want to use my slogan that is okay by me. That is why I use it. We had a thread a long time ago about tag lines the city should use. I came up with this one.

Great ideas, but they are useless if we don't tell our leaders. Has anyone written a letter or email yet?

Could Caterpillar make their stuff in the GM plant? That'd be a quick fix.

Or do they even plan to make any products stateside?

GM plant is now owned by Oklahoma County and leased to Tinker. Considering all the money/time just spent to retool the place and clean it up, it'll be staying with Tinker for a very long time.

Caterpiller has lots of manufacturing plants in the US. The CEO said he might move the headquarters, not the manufacturing. However, Cat is an anti-union company so it is possible that Illinois could lose the manufacturing as well if a right-to-work state made a good offer.

Well, Harvester had a manufaturing plant in OK less than 30 years ago so why not CAT?

I believe CAT will be moving to Texas.
