I noticed that Channel 4 has a small story about the new playground being built in Moore. It mentions the partnership with AMBUCs for funding. However, this story goes back to a small group of dedicated people who started this in 2009. The group is called Leaps & Boundless. This group did not have the means to raise the $250,000 needed for the project, but that did not stop them from working diligently toward that goal. They have coordinated fundraisers, informed the community, spent countless hours pouring over designs until the plans were absolutely flawless. The L&B Chairperson, Jessicia Smith stood nervously in front of the Parks & Recreation Board on June 9th, 2009 and presented the Board with the idea, the plan, and the budget for this playground. That was the day that the City of Moore realized the need to include the disabled population in the recreational facilities in Moore. Somehow, in all of the politics that have taken place, this dedicated group has been thrown aside. I truly hope that this forum will be involved in giving this group the credit that they deserve.
