If there is a lock-out the fans will be the ones to blame. They are the ones un-willing to pay 50% more for tickets. If I was running the league my top salary would be $1,000,000. League minimum would be $100,000. Where else are 99% of these guys going to make $100K?

There are 346 division 1 basketball teams this year. I'll find someone willing to play for $100K.

When the NHL went on strike a few years ago, the economic impact on the area that is near the Pepsi Center in Denver was huge. None of the restaurants that are near the arena had to close because they still had the Nuggets to piggyback on, but when you basically eliminate 40-45 nights worth of business, the economy will be hurting.

I'm not sure how many bars and restaurants there are near the OKC Arena, but as I said, if they lose 40 nights worth of business, it will be bad for the economy as a whole.

If nothing else it will put to rest the "NBA generates economic activity/no they don't" debate.

I can envision a lot of players... (especially superstars like LeBron, Kobe and Durant) trying to expand their brand by expanding to Europe. This could end ugly for the NBA!

How exactly would that work in a lockout? The teams won't pay the players and won't allow them to play elsewhere? How exactly would that work?

There are lots of professional leagues where they could go and play if they chose. Or the players could just set up their own competing league.
