I personally like them! I think they add a lot of character downtown. I do hope they continue to bring them in during the winter though....bringing them out in the spring and summer makes them more special.

Actually they were placed in storage during the winter months. For the past few weeks, they've been putting them back in place. They'll be on display through the Spring and Summer, and be put back in storage before winter.

Oh yes. Well... at least they are preserving them. But, weren't they bought by DowntownOKC-INC?

Actually the buffalo are owned by the individual sponsors. They're just allowing Downtown OKC Inc. and the Nature Conservancy to keep them on display. All of the proceeds from sponsoring the buffalo went to help the non-profit Nature Conservancy.

Just FYI: The Nature Conservancy is a non-profit, conservation organization that protects plants, animals, and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by preserving the lands and waters they need to survive. The Oklahoma Chapter was started in 1986, maintains three major preserves open to the public - Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, Nickel Preserve, and Pontotoc Ridge Preserve, as well as ten other preserves across the state.

Nice pics. What was the location of the second and third ones from the top on the first post? I don't recognize them.

The second pic looks like OU. Not sure about the third pic.

Hmm, it doesn't look like any building on the OUHSC campus. OUr buffalo is in front of the Bird Library, which has no brick.

Yeah I know but I'm looking at that pic number 3 in the first post... and it looks like nothing in downtown.

It could be the OCU campus.....afterall, there are stars around the buffalo! That's OCU's mascot.
