So what's the deal with the OHP cars at the old Fred Jones Ford dealership on 240 all the time. It's like they park to surround the place half the time. And when I went by today, there were like 40 patrol cars parked in the front lot. They've been leaving a few cars there for months now.

If they look like new cars, they're probably waiting for warm, loving OHP Troopers to adopt them and take them home! (You didn't say what condition the cars were in, so that's just an assumption)

I saw a couple parked there on Sunday when we were heading back to Austin. I think ODOT bought that property as right-of-way for future reconstruction of the I-35/240 interchange and why they moved the dealership to 89th & I-35. Maybe the OHP is going to use that location as a maintenance facility until something moves forward and the land is actually needed. It would seem to make sense, since they have a vacated service department in the building.

Just a hunch.

Don't know but I noticed they created their own on-ramp to I-240 through the grass.

I think you mean the old Bob Moore Ford location south of I-240 and just west of I-35?

Yes, it is now owned by the state. They bought it in 2009.

Yes Bob Moore , but Fred Jones built the place, Moore just bought it from him.

Have noticed this for several months; there always seem to be at least two cars parked there and often more. We, too, wondered what was going on. Have never seen the building "open" with cars inside like would happen if it were a repair location. Very curious!

the original 2 cars were placed there to deter graffiti vandals
who had tagged the dealership twice previous.

As far as 40 OHP cars, that's s a seperate matter.....

The building is going to be used by OHP for vehicle maintainance, new car prep, radio shop. The buildings at NE 36th and ML King are outdated and are not as spacious. As stated in previous posts, the building was purchased by ODOT. Unknown when the move is going to take place.

They are doing tactical training inside the building.
