Steve, how is he enjoying OKC?

Steve
11-14-2010, 08:48 PM
He's loving it. Guys, those of you who have enjoyed conversing with Russian Sam should really consider visiting him at the Expo Showcase at the Creativity World Forum at the Cox Convention Center. You can enter for free, no hassle, and meet him, see the model and other cool stuff from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Will he be in town for Thanksgiving?

plmccordj
11-15-2010, 03:43 AM
Well hopefully Kazakhstan Kelly Ogle will be in town next. Who is Russian Sam? Is there a link telling the story of who this person is? I assume that if you posted on a public forum, it was desired that everyone know who he is.

Where is he staying? and are there any groupies? What type of vodka does he drink?

Also does he know that English is the official language of Oklahoma?

Dennis Wells house in SoSA. Since you mention Vodka, why don't you buy him a bottle of Metiore's or whatever the name of the local place in the former Fred Jones Plant makes. Not a drinker, but have heard they won numerous best taste awards nationally and internationally. Steve's his groupie.

I would love to buy him a bottle of Metore's Old-Russia, but I believe they are no longer. It was a great vodka too.

Nice to hear he is having a good time.

What type of vodka does he drink?

Skittles. (http://mixthatdrink.com/skittles-vodka-tutorial/) Keepin' it old-school.

bombermwc While I can appreciate your sarcasm, the model thread never interested me so I never read it. The title of this thread is "Russian Sam is in OKC!" and never mentioned anything about models so there was not an obvious connection. If you really thought about it, I think you would agree that your response was a little over the top... DUH!

Thanks Doug and Matt. I know it may seem like I am totally out of touch to have not seen these threads and it is true. I do not have time to spend reading this forum as much as I like. I tend to do what most busy people do and that is to skim the stories and if one happens to jump out at me then I will stop and read it. I would search the forum but for the life of me, I have never been able to figure out the search feature on this site. I have even searched for threads that I see on the top of the page and for some reason, they never show up. Clearly I am doing something wrong. Since I am always in a rush, I guess I never stop to read the instructions. I do appreciate this forum and the many people that contribute to it. I often send people to this site because it is an invaluable resource to our community.

Again, I apologize for the disruption.

Paul

I can to say these words about St. Petersburg. When you spent all your life in one place, you stop noticing "special".

I remember all the hub-bub as well...Okies, I suppose, are the fictional characters that Steinbeck conjured up..."Okies" are anyone who ever lived in Oklahoma...not unlike Texans are people who lived in Texas. But--it might be a nice thing in Russia to remember his trip by...without all the baggage of the character-assassination Steinbeck did on the unfortunate people who were buried by dust/sand from the northern Plains...

Not me. I'm proud to be an "Okie" TODAY and for others to call us that, as well. Even though the original definition doesn't fit any more, the very same thing can (and should) be said for Oklahoma being called the "Sooner state" and/or the University of Oklahoma taking pride in its fight-song, "Boomer Sooner." Both the sooners and boomers were lawbreakers, criminals, if you will, but we have no difficulty today being associated with those historic terms, even if we see them in a different light today. At least the Okies were not law breakers, just people enduring and trying to survive the hard times of that dust bowl and depression era. All these terms, sooners, boomers, okies, are part of our history, and all are to be embraced as part of who we are and where we came from.

I spent MANY YEARS disposing of abusers of this state when I lived on the West Coast...never get me started...this small state (population-wise) has MANY superlatives going for it...if you have any doubt--just check out the listings for Miss Americas--not such a big deal today while we are enduring liberal tyranny on all fronts--but--historically important. Oklahoma--love it or leave it, it's a free country, you know...
